SMUG started because Keli was tired of sleep masks that promised everything and delivered nothing — flimsy, ineffective, and apparently designed by people who had never actually tried to sleep in one. She designed her own. The contoured 3D blackout sleep mask — with moulded cups that protect lash extensions while delivering 100% blackout — was the founding product and remains the one that earned SMUG its reputation. It won Best Sleep Mask at the Hip and Healthy Sleep Awards in 2020 and was voted The Independent's number one Indy Best buy for best eye mask for the perfect night's sleep. Featured in Forbes, Hip & Healthy, Global Beauty & Wellness, and Health & Wellbeing. The kind of recognition that accumulates when a product actually solves the problem it claims to solve.

From that first mask, SMUG has grown into a full sleep and self-care edit built around the same conviction: that nights should feel better, and getting there should be enjoyable. Sleep masks come in three formats — contoured 3D blackout, smooth satin, and cloud-padded satin — in a rotating range of prints from Cow to Cherry Blossom, Jungle to Snake, Leopard to Palm Noir, plus novelty plush designs for those who find a frog spa headband irresistible, which turns out to be rather a lot of people. Alongside: satin sleep turbans and pillowcases (both proven to reduce hair breakage and facial creasing overnight), double-sided hair towel wraps, spa headbands, wash bags and toiletry bags in matching prints, cosy cuddle socks, lavender pillow mist, microwaveable lavender body wraps, and sleepover sets for gifting. Everything is designed to make the getting-ready-for-bed part of a day feel like something worth doing, rather than something to rush through.
