Cricket Whites That Aren't See-Through, From Two Teenage Sisters Who'd Had Quite Enough.

Right. So Maiden Cricket is the work of Honor and Cat Black — two Chichester-raised sisters, currently aged seventeen and sixteen respectively, who started playing cricket aged seven at Barnes Cricket Club (where Honor was, in the now-traditional manner, the only girl among forty boys), then carried on through school and Sussex club cricket, and somewhere in the middle of their teenage years had what one might fairly call a properly thorough and well-justified moment of having had Quite Enough. Specifically: enough of oversized boys' jerseys, of hand-me-down trousers from older brothers, of baggy fits, of awkward waistbands, and (the real persistent grievance, and one that anyone who has tried to play cricket in white kit as a woman will recognise instantly) cricket whites that are functionally see-through. Their own subsequent research surveyed two thousand women and found that more than a third had been actively discouraged from taking up cricket by the inappropriate kit. So in 2024, while still at school, they launched Maiden Cricket from a base in Keighley, West Yorkshire — one of those rare brand origin stories that is exactly as charming and exactly as genuine as it sounds.
