Sandals Made from Ocean Waste. Every Pair Rescues 300g of It.

Nuoceans started with a problem that is not difficult to see if you spend any time near Southeast Asian beaches: discarded flip-flops, in extraordinary quantities, heading nowhere useful. The brand partners with Trash Hero to rescue them — sorting by colour, cleaning thoroughly, shredding into confetti-like pieces, and heat-pressing those pieces into the unique, colourful sole layers that make every pair of Nuo sandals visually distinct. The shredded material is shipped to Spain, where it is assembled with recycled cork, natural latex, recycled EVA and vegan leather straps using non-toxic water-based glue under strict EU manufacturing standards. To date, over 8 tonnes of ocean waste flip-flops have been recovered. Each pair accounts for around 300g of that.

The range covers open sandals and clogs in a palette that reflects the mixed-colour nature of the recycled soles — no two pairs are identical, which is a consequence of the material rather than a marketing claim. The footbed is recycled cork and natural latex with a soft foam layer for all-day comfort; the straps are vegan leather from recycled PVC and polyester, or bio-based palm fibre on the Coco model. No leather, no animal glues, no virgin materials beyond what is strictly necessary. Fully recyclable at end of life. Made in Spain. Based in Harrow. Built on the fairly simple conviction that the world does not need another sandal brand — it needs a better one.
