Fine and Demi-Fine Gemstone Jewellery. Designed and Made by Karen in Brixton.

Karen Morrison studied Fashion Design in Glasgow, spent years working as a fashion model in London, and then decided to learn how to make the jewellery she wanted to wear. She retrained as a silversmith and jewellery designer, built a studio in Brixton, and has been making fine and demi-fine gemstone jewellery there ever since. The pieces are designed and handmade by Karen herself — every one of them — in recycled silver and 9ct solid gold, set with precious and semi-precious gemstones chosen for their meaning as well as their appearance. The Agua collection draws on the lochs and mountains of western Scotland. Bora Bora conjures specific blue water. Amazonite is for courage and truth. Amethyst for clarity and protection. These are not decorative labels — they are how Karen thinks about her work.

The credentials are considerable: included in Professional Jeweller magazine's UK Hot 100 as a Trendsetter in 2013, nominated for Jewellery Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards in 2009 and 2014, and commissioned by Topshop to design and produce a collection for their UNIQUE spring/summer 2013 catwalk show. Featured in Vogue, Elle, Grazia, Red, ES Magazine and Professional Jeweller. Stocked at the Craft Centre & Design Gallery in Leeds City Art Gallery and SH Jewellery in Edinburgh. Available at Herne Hill market most Sundays, and by appointment at the Brixton studio for commissions and bespoke pieces. Packaging is plastic-free, recyclable and biodegradable throughout.
