Barratt Boards began the way the best things do — as a passion project. Joe started making chopping boards in Cornwall because he loved working with wood, started sharing his work on Instagram, and discovered that an awful lot of other people shared his conviction that the tools you cook with should be as beautiful as the food you make. Top chefs took notice. The range grew. The standard didn't drop. Every board is still handmade by Joe in Cornwall, from sustainably sourced hardwoods chosen as much for their visual character as their performance — elm with its warm, rich grain; English oak; British walnut; sycamore; chestnut; London plane. End grain boards use the natural fibres of the wood to face the cutting surface, creating the patterns that make each piece unique and providing genuine resistance to knife marks over years of daily use.
