Sustainability isn't something we've perfected — and we'd be rather suspicious of anyone who claimed they had.

It's a journey, and one we take seriously. Every brand on Söstter has been individually reviewed. We look for genuine commitment, not greenwash — real certifications, honest supply chains, and makers who care about what happens after the sale.

Here's what we look for.

Certified organic & natural materials

We feature textiles and fabrics certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and OEKO-TEX® — meaning materials are responsibly sourced and free from harmful chemicals. If a brand makes the claim, we check it.

Recycled & upcycled

Our sustainable brands integrate reclaimed fabrics, recycled plastics and repurposed materials into their designs — minimising waste and extending the life of valuable resources. Browse our resell, upcycled & vintage collection for more.

Ethical production & fair trade

We support brands that uphold fair wages, safe working conditions and ethical labour practices. Many partners hold Fair Trade and Ethical Trade Initiative certifications — because how something is made matters as much as what it is.

Low-impact & non-toxic dyes

We highlight products using natural, plant-based or non-toxic dyes — reducing the environmental impact of traditional dyeing processes without compromising on colour or quality.

Sustainably sourced materials & vegan alternatives

Our home and fashion collections feature FSC-certified wood, responsibly sourced natural materials and innovative cruelty-free leather alternatives.

Zero-waste & circular design

Many of our brands follow zero-waste principles — upcycled materials, minimal excess production, circular design models. Things made to last, not to be replaced.

Cruelty-free & vegan

We partner with PETA-certified and Cruelty-Free International brands that don't test on animals or use animal-derived ingredients.

Responsible packaging

Many of our products arrive in biodegradable, recyclable or reusable packaging. Small decisions that add up.
