In 1998, Lorena watched her daughters playing on a rug and thought: wouldn't it be easier to wash it at home? She searched for a washable rug, found nothing, and decided to make one herself. That single practical instinct led to the world's first machine-washable rug — and a brand now present in over 70 countries, with offices in Barcelona, New Delhi and New York, and its own artisan factory in India where over 170 craftswomen handcraft every piece. Each rug carries Lorena's signature hand-embroidered on the back and a certificate of authenticity. Not many rugs can say that.

Every Lorena Canals rug is made from natural cotton or wool, coloured with non-toxic dyes, designed for zero waste and produced with a commitment to fair trade that runs through every stage of the process. The Sakûla Project — a nursery school in northern India educating the children of factory artisans — is funded through every purchase. The Woolable® range introduced the world's first washable wool rug. The RugCycled® line upcycles production leftovers into new pieces. Lorena Canals opened their first flagship store on Barcelona's Diagonal in collaboration with Oli&Carol — a family project bringing together two generations and two brands under one beautifully considered roof.
