Becky Bettesworth is a Devon artist based in Torquay whose career began in 2013 with an invitation to exhibit at Greenway — the National Trust house on the River Dart, once home to Agatha Christie. The vintage sensibility of Greenway turned out to be exactly the right setting for her work. Becky draws her inspiration from the classic British railway and travel posters of the 1930s — the kind that made Scarborough look like the Riviera and turned the South Devon coast into something mythological — and reimagines them with a fresh, modern palette and a genuine love of the specific places she depicts.

The British Coastlines collection spans Salcombe, Thurlestone, Dartmouth, St Ives, Fowey, Padstow and beyond — each print built around the character of its location, from the fleet of small sailing boats in the Salcombe estuary to the art deco glamour of a 1950s scooter at East Portlemouth. Prints are produced on FSC certified quality matt paper, with framed versions made to order. These are pieces that work on a gallery wall, up a staircase, or as the finishing touch in a holiday home that wants to feel like somewhere rather than anywhere.
