Shyre Bikes
Lightweight Kids' Bikes Built by Parents Who Needed Better Options.
Shyre Bikes was founded by Kev and Michelle Williams in Shrewsbury, Shropshire — two parents who started Discounted Bikes in late 2023 to help families find affordable children's bikes before Christmas, and liked what happened enough to build their own brand from scratch. The mission behind Shyre is straightforward: cycling participation among children is falling, and the main barriers are price, weight, and quality. Shyre addresses all three at once.
The range covers ages 18 months to 14 years, from the Myndie balance bike through the Hopton hybrid range and the Eastie mountain bikes. Frames are lightweight alloy — the 16-inch Hopton weighs just 6.9kg, the 20-inch 8.9kg — with child-specific geometry, short-reach brake levers for smaller hands, and components chosen for durability rather than cost-cutting. Every frame carries a lifetime warranty. A trade-in programme lets families swap up as children grow. Bikes arrive 90% assembled, with one-to-one fitting available at the Shrewsbury HQ. Free helmet included with every purchase direct from the website. Reviews consistently rate the quality above expectation for the price — and the price is genuinely mid-range for what you get.
