Reuben started with a few boards he imported to sell at university while studying Occupational Therapy in Bournemouth. They sold remarkably well — good design and honest quality have a way of doing that — and what began as a side project became FatStick Boards, one of the UK's most recognised independent watersports brands. The name comes from surf culture: surfers call their boards "sticks". A paddle board is basically a very large surfboard. A Fat Stick. Founded in 2012 and based in the Bournemouth, Poole and Sandbanks area with a second store on Hayling Island, FatStick now has a full range of inflatable and hard SUP boards, kayaks, changing robes, skateboards and accessories for every level.

One tree is planted for every board purchased, packaging is plastic-free, and the brand's mini-cruiser skateboards are made from recycled plastic.
